Dapo Adeola is a multi-award-winning illustrator, author, and character designer who has made a significant impact in children’s literature. He was named Illustrator of the Year at The British Book Awards 2022 and has been celebrated for his bold, expressive artwork that champions Black representation in storytelling.

Dapo’s illustrator debut, Look Up!, written by Nathan Bryon, was an instant success, winning the Waterstones Children's Book Prize in 2020. He has since illustrated beloved picture books such as My Dad is a Grizzly Bear and My Mum is a Lioness, both written by Swapna Haddow, as well as We’re Going to Find the Monster!, a collaboration with Malorie Blackman.

In 2021, Dapo made his author debut with Hey You!, an empowering picture book celebrating Black identity and self-love, featuring illustrations from 18 talented Black British illustrators. The book went on to win Illustrated Book of the Year at The British Book Awards 2022. In 2023, he also won the Illustrator of the Year Award at The Laugh Out Loud Book Awards (The Lollies), voted for by children across the UK and Ireland.

Born in Britain with Nigerian heritage, Dapo is a passionate advocate for equal representation in the creative arts. His work continues to inspire young readers with vibrant illustrations and empowering messages.
