Join Us for the Ubuntu Creative Fair: Celebrating Black Authors and Interactive Fun for Kids!

Melanin Dreams Bookshop is thrilled to be part of the Ubuntu Creative Fair at Croydon Library, bringing you an inspiring day of author readings and interactive activities for children. Come and immerse your little ones in stories that celebrate diversity, creativity, and imagination! Here's what's in store:

 

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM: Ella Phillips Reading & Activity

Book: "My Grandma's Magic Recipes: Autumn Harvest"

Join us for a magical journey with Ella Phillips, author of the beautifully illustrated My Grandma's Magic Recipes: Autumn Harvest. She’ll be sharing heartwarming tales of family, culture, and the changing seasons. This interactive reading will be followed by a fun activity that brings the story to life for young readers. It’s a perfect opportunity for children to engage with the characters and themes from the book while learning more about the power of food and family traditions.


1:30 PM – 2:30 PM: Stephanie Taylor Reading & Activity

Book: "I’m Going to be a Princess"

Next up, Stephanie Taylor will enchant us with her delightful story, I’m Going to be a Princess. Through this tale of a little girl’s dreams and the inspirational Black women she admires, children will be taken on a royal adventure. After the reading, Stephanie will lead an activity that celebrates the strength and beauty of Black women and girls, inspiring young readers to dream big and embrace their uniqueness.


3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Jamel Carly Reading & Activity

Book: "Olus’ Teacher: A Story About Starting Nursery"

Closing the event, we welcome Jamel Carly, author of Olus' Teacher: A Story About Starting Nursery. This heartwarming book is perfect for little ones who are about to embark on their own nursery adventures. Jamel’s reading will be followed by an activity session where children can explore their feelings about starting school in a playful and creative way, helping them to feel confident about this important transition.
