3 BEST BOOKS FOR IMAGINATIVE THINKING!

THE IMPORTANCE OF IMAGINATIVE THINKING

Everything that was ever built or accomplished began in the mind, created by the imagination. It is a powerful, creative tool, and the more we put it to good use the better.

But why? Here are some benefits for making a habit of imaginative thinking.

A SUPERCHARGED BRAIN

Using your imagination builds a network in the brain that helps share information across its different region.Scientists in a study found that as many as 12 different brain regions are involved when people imagine turning a shape around in their mind. Also, the same parts of our brain that we use in understanding the world and our environments around us and used in our imagination- creating mental pictures in our mind of that world (therefore the more we see and experience, through, for example, reading some great WokeBabies books, the more and the better we can imagine!).

MAINTAIN YOUR MEMORY

A recent neurological study (related to the study of our brain and nervous system) found that being imaginative creates more neurons in your brain. If this continues in later life, you are less likely (73% less likely!) to develop the memory problems that lead to dementia (a disease involving memory loss).

PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS AND FOCUS

Energy follows focus, what you focus on expands. Using our imagination helps us to focus on what we need to do and what we want. Developing our imaginations is a useful tool to help us think up new solutions to the new and different challenges and obstacles we face in our lives.

3 BOOKS FOR AN IMAGINATIVE MIND!

The following books have been picked for the different perspectives they give on imagination, whether the big or small concepts or themes of life, and possibilities, each are great to spur young readers’ imaginations on.

FREEDOM, WE SING

This book encourages curious minds to think about a big and abstract concept such as freedom. The beautiful, bright illustrations alongside the rhythmic text sparks the imagination and deeper thought. It made me think about the ways freedom could be viewed. Is it a place, or simply a way of thinking? This is a pick for me because it introduces thoughtfulness about a big life question in a gentle way.

THE KING OF KINDERGARTEN

The King of Kindergarten follows the imagination of the lead character through his first kindergarten day and the kingdom-focused lens that he sees his world through. From milestones like your first day at school to simpler things can be made more fun when we look from the perspective of our imagination.

This book shows readers the power of perspective, and how using your imagination and a positive attitude can give us courage to face the new.
